Fanchee Whitaker, a publishing company executive for 23 years, has been a student of dance since childhood. Her personal creative outlet came to fruition almost 30 years ago as a professional belly dancer and instructor. Known as Shahina in the belly dance community, she has performed at Bass Hall for the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Scarborough Renaissance Festival, Hawkwood Fantasy Faire, Four Winds Renaissance Festival, numerous Dallas-Fort Worth Middle Eastern restaurants, private parties and countless community events. She developed a passion for fitness through belly dance and became an AFAA certified group fitness instructor and obtained licenses in Zumba, Zumba Toning, Aqua Zumba, Zumba Gold and Zumba Gold Toning. She is also a certified instructor of Jillian Michael’s BODYSHRED, Barre Above and Schwinn Cycle. Her favorite fitness quotes are “movement is medicine, but it better be fun” and “the hardest part of any workout is simply showing up!” These exercise philosophies, and the support of her wonderful students, sustained her through breast cancer surgery and chemotherapy treatments. Fitness is a lifestyle and movement brings healing to the body.
